An invitation by the SPH Curriculum Committee went out by email to all SPH faculty inviting submission of ideas for the MPH core curriculum. A link to a Dropbox folder containing the Excel template to be used for your submission can be found here. Be sure that all 22 MPH Core Competencies from CEPH are represented in your proposal and that the total core coursework does not exceed 15 credits. You may also wish to submit a separate text file with more detailed rationale. If you get your submission in by May 1, then we can report on it at the next FSC meeting. Email your submissions or questions to Matthew Paczkowski.
Webinar on MPH Models
ASPPH held a webinar describing new MPH models. One presentation provides an overview of the integrated core at UIC and the other presentation shows an alternative model of structuring the capstone. Links are available to the recorded webinar.
Local Competition
My office have put together a database of New York and some New Jersey graduate public health programs. I strongly suggest examining it and learning more about what our local competition is up to in the NYC region. The link to the Google Sheet is here. You will notice there are 18 MPH programs nearby, not all accredited, but worth noting as we do want to strive toward a unique CUNY brand for our curriculum.
Implementing Direct Assessment
Matt put together another great slide deck on implmenting direct assessment in your courses. This will be critical as we implement the new CEPH criteria. The link is here.
Learning Objectives and Assessment
Matthew Paczkowski put together some great slide decks on writing effective learning objectives and implementing direct assessment of learning objectives in your courses. I think these will be useful as we examine our curriculum. You can find both presentations here. And I’m sure that Matt would be willing to provide additional support.
