Program Proposal Form
We have posted a new program proposal form in the SPH Documents page of this website. The intention is to provide guidance on the information that is needed by CUNY, NYSED, and accrediting bodies for creation of a new program. Please speak with Robyn if you have questions or feedback on the form.
Fall 2017 Syllabi Collection
We are beginning to collect syllabi for the Fall 2017 semester. We ask that you use the new fall 2017 template for all syllabi to ensure students have the most recent and accurate information. The updated template contains the following important changes:
- Updates to Support Resources, including Library Services
- Updates to Required Reading, including a link to the new CUNY SPH Bookstore, launching in August
- Updates to Accessibility, including new contact information for students with disabilities
- Our new CUNY SPH logo
- Updated URLs throughout the document
To submit your Fall 2017 syllabi, please complete the following steps:
- Download the template and fill in the highlighted regions with your relevant course information.
- Note: any information that is not highlighted should remain on your syllabus.
- Save and upload your syllabi using this link.
- If you have technical difficulties submitting a syllabus through the file share link, you can email it to your department administrator (Toya Cox for CHASS and EOGHS; Himani Sharma for HPAM and EPI-BIOS).
All syllabi should be submitted no later than the first day of the semester, Friday, August 25th.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. If you have any questions regarding the syllabus template or the submission process, please contact Matt Paczkowski.
Curriculum Revision Log
We’ve put together a running log of the curriculum revision updates. This timeline will help us track recent developments with the MPH and Doctoral Programs at SPH. You can find the list here – be sure to check back as we continue to update the document.
IPE – Interprofessional Education
One of the new requirements in the CEPH criteria relates to IPE – Interprofessional education. Competency #21 in the MPH foundational list: “Perform effectively on interprofessional teams.” IPE has already been a focus of other healthcare professions; see the IPEC resource here to learn more. IPE was a major topic of discussion at the ASPPH Section’s Retreat I attended in June. ASPPH is planning to collect resources to help faculty with this new requirement. One resource is out of the University of Michigan. It’s a toolkit that appears helpful in making courses interprofessional. Hopefully more resources will follow and we will have discussions about this at the school and department level in the Fall.
New Certified in Public Health (CPH) Content Outline
The National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) board of directors has announced the new content outline for the CPH exam. These changes are based on the results of a Jobs Tasks Analysis of the public health workforce, and will be implemented in January, 2019. The new content outline (as well as the current content outline) can be found here.
MPH Core Curriculum DRAFT posted
The curriculum committee carefully reviewed the proposals for the MPH core curriculum and developed a working draft that includes course names, credits, learning objectives, and assessments. There is still much work to be done and revisions are expected as we seek feedback from faculty, students, and external stakeholders. The document is posted in the SPH Documents section of the website and can be directly accessed here. Please continue to provide feedback to your elected representative of the curriculum committee on the MPH core.
Current Student Survey Posted
We put together a slide deck summarizing the Spring 2017 current student survey results. We added items about the MPH core curriculum in addition to our normal items. This data may be useful as we continue to consider how to respond to the CEPH 2016 criteria. We also posted this in the SPH Documents page of this site.
Curriculum Committee Update to FSC Posted
The slide deck that was presented at the FSC on May 3, 2017 by Sean Haley is posted in the SPH Documents page and can be accessed here. The committee provided a timeline and process for the curriculum update through Spring 2018.
MPH Core Proposals Posted
You can see the details of each proposal on the SPH Documents page. We are accepting proposal submissions through August. After that, we need to start working on draft syllabi and proposals.
